As most of you know, Christchurch has been rocked by a 7 plus earthquake only days ago. This natural ass kicking that Mother Nature has handed out has also possibly been the catalyst for several land and rock slides around the area.
On Sunday, Treble Cone was the latest victim with between 10 to 20 tonnes of rock blocking access to TC and the Matukituki Valley.
The rockslide was discovered by one of TC’s groomer operators heading to work to get those trails pimped and primed for everyone to enjoy. However the 350 cubic meters of rock and debris put a stop to the day going to plan!
With the Spring melt on the way and maybe a little rain in stages, it is possible rockslides will be on the increase for the next few months until loose rocks and debris are identified and dealt with so please be careful on the roads.
